Doggy Donations

I am a firm believer in being kind and it coming back to you.  It is from this thought process, and an overwhelming sadness at my sweet girl Daisy crossing the Rainbow Bridge last week, that I'm sharing with you some of my thoughts.   I knew the time was coming to say 'good-bye, my sweet girl'.  I knew it was going to be painful.  This painful?  No way!

I am an animal lover!  I love everything about them. They are adorable. They offer us much more comfort and love than we could ever offer them.  In that thought, I have decided I'm going to donate some of my commissions in Daisy's honour.   I'm not sure which charity exactly.  I will figure it out and try and find the charity most in need and often overlooked.

I don't make a lot of commission and I say that having not even being commissioned yet. This travel business is no joke. It is a lot of work.  People are great and I love this job, but it is A LOT of work.  Did I already say that?!  I love doing what I do, but the pay is not all that much compared to the work involved.  I am going to use what little I do make and make a difference.  I do the travel gig because I love it.  I also love animals!!!!   What better way to combine 2 things that bring me such joy and fill my life with passion and joy.

1% of my commissions will be saved and donated to a dog rescue/animal rescue charity.   That is just to start.  I want to keep things focused on those that can't speak for themselves - sweet little animals.  As time goes on, and I see a need, I may also donate elsewhere as well.

Happy Travels,

~Tammy

Finding My Way Home

I am usually really good about trusting my instincts; if something doesn’t feel right I trust that feeling.  Well, that is USUALLY how I operate.  Not that first travel company choice.  Nope! Nada! Not that time.

I went to a travel information night with Expedia  Cruiseship Centers.  I was intrigued, but for whatever reason, a reason I can’t explain, I chose a different route!  To say I’m disappointed in my initial decision is an understatement.

All of that is a lesson learned.  I have corrected my initial decision and I am now where I am happiest.  I am supported, offered more educational opportunities than I can absorb.  I am home and I couldn’t be happier.  Expedia Cruiseship Centers is everything I wanted in a company and so much more.

The company focus is cruises, but so much more.  I am being taught about insurance, resort packages, cruise packages and so much more. I have found  support from other agents, management and business contacts with each and every supplier.  This is what I imagined as a career in travel,

I am going to use this venue asplace to
highlight various locations, fun facts, deals and specials.

Please reach out if there is anything I can help you with.  No question is dumb, no task too small.   I love travel and I love sharing in helping you chase your travel adventures.

Welcome to New Adventures

Dominican Republic, Puerto Plata, 2011

The trip that started this crazy journey!  It took me one trip to sunny climes  to awaken the travel bug and I've never looked back.

I had talked with my best friend for years about becoming a Travel Agent and we both finally took the leap.  We searched and searched for information, which to be completely honest, was not the easiest search. Information is mixed and opinions are many.

The TICO exam is the first step in this journey and when I tell you that study guide is so boring.  I said many times in the process, that reading/studying was as compelling as watching paint dry.

I read through the materials about 5 times taking notes.  I didn't feel ready to write the test, but booked the test proctor and took the leap; 3 weeks later my certificate arrived!

I searched and searched to find a company to join.  I knew I wanted to do an at home business, but which business, I wasn't so sure.  The cost to join them is quite high with various level of support and training.  I love to learn so the training was really important to me.

I joined Travel Experts, a Red Label Vacations company.   The learning curve has been sharp and I plug along.

I am going to use this blog to bring deals to you, a perspective on different places to visit, some of my own trip experiences as well as some guest posts from some of my customers.

Please, if there is something you want to know, you want to see, let me know!  I love to learn and the opportunity to share in the joys and excitement of travel is a gift to me and one I am blessed to share with you.

Until our next adventure,

~Tammy
